David Bosun
Director
David Bosun is an internationally renowned Indigenous artist and a respected leader from Moa Island in the Torres Strait. He specialises in fine art printmaking, graphic design, painting, wood carving, and sculpture.
As a Traditional Owner, David has devoted his career to advancing community development, cultural preservation, sustainable land and reef management, employment and economic initiatives that benefit the Mualgal people.
David is a former Torres Strait Island Regional Council Councillor and has served on the Torres Strait Regional Authority board. He previously held the position of Chair of the Mualgal Registered Native Title Body Corporate (RNTBC) and currently serves as a Director of MoArts.
In these roles, he contributes to shaping policies, training programs, and community initiatives that empower local people, strengthen intergenerational leadership, and promote cultural knowledge.He is also the founder of Straight Tours, an Indigenous-owned ecotourism business providing authentic cultural and eco-adventure experiences on Moa Island.
Through this enterprise, David demonstrates a strong commitment to creating economic opportunities while preserving cultural and environmental heritage. A dancer, cultural teacher, and mentor, David combines professional acumen with deep cultural insight.
He fosters initiatives that align economic development with Mualgal values, embodying a holistic approach to Indigenous leadership that balances cultural preservation, environmental stewardship, and sustainable economic growth for the benefit of current and future generations.
